Lazarus' History
Where do we come from?
In May 1996, Steve was approach by the musical director of Touch Music Ministry to form a team that will appear in the Aug 1996 musical production, ‘Elijah’, which was performed at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Thus, a group of 9 was formed for this purpose. Their involvement in the musical sparks of interest among others who saw them and soon many people started joining them. Steve and Mikki were responsible to teach those who are new to inline skating. This carried on even after the musical has ended.
In Jan 1997, the regulars in the group decided to print a T-shirt to identify ourselves. Richard was responsible in searching for a printing company. The design is a joined effort by Steve and Richard. A name was also needed for the group and after much discussion, we adopted the name ‘Lazarus’. After a long wait due to some problems with the printer, the T-shirt was finally ready on the 2 March 1997.
On 9 March 1997, we had our first session in our new tees and although the rain spoiled the day, we still had a lot of fun together. A new group has been born!
